Lexington Three To Host Its First-Ever “Chopped” Competition

On Tuesday, October 25th, four teams will converge at Batesburg-Leesville Elementary School for Lexington County School District Three’s first-ever Chopped food competition. The event will begin at 4 pm and members of the community are invited to attend.

Each team will be composed of three fifth grade students from Batesburg-Leesville Elementary School and a Lexington Three Child Nutrition Manager. Group members will have 45 minutes to work together to create a delectable dish using three mystery ingredients. Each cooking station will have the same ingredients as well as a single burner, saute pan and cooking utensils. There will also be a pantry available for teams to select other food items to complement their mystery ingredients.

At the end of the competition, a panel of four judges will determine who will take home the 2022 Lexington Three Chopped Champion trophy. The judges include Lexington Three Superintendent Dr. Ashley Atkinson, Lexington Three Assistant Superintendent Ralph Schmidt, Sherrie Jumper from Shealy’s BBQ and Charles Wingard from Walter P. Rawl Farms. Teams will be scored on food safety, sanitation, creativity, team work, taste and presentation.

Batesburg-Leesville Elementary School is located at 403 South Lee Street in Batesburg-Leesville.
