Lexington Three Student Is Top “Jump Rope for Heart” Fundraiser in SC

Congratulations to B-L Elementary School third grader Chandler Bouknight on being named as the top “Jump Rope for Heart” fundraiser in South Carolina.  Chandler raised the money last year while she was a student at B-L Primary School. To date, B-L Primary School has contributed approximately $287,739 to the American Heart Association through its “Jump Rope for Heart” program.

Chandler was recognized at the November 13th Lexington County School District Three Board of Trustees meeting that was held at B-L Middle School.  She was presented a plaque by Heather Ginn, the Youth Market Director at the American Heart Association. According to Ginn, when the “Jump Rope for Heart” program started 40 years ago, a child born with congenital heart disease had less than a 1% chance of surviving to adulthood.  Nowadays, a child born with the same condition has more than a 90% survival rate to adulthood.

Chandler earned the top fundraising spot out of almost 33,000 students statewide.  Congratulations!
