Coronavirus Update -- April 22nd

On Wednesday, April 22nd, Governor Henry McMaster announced that all schools in South Carolina will be closed through the end of the school year in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, otherwise known as the Coronavirus. In addition to the closure of schools, all extracurricular activities, field trips, athletic practices, athletic games and events scheduled at our Fine Arts Center are cancelled through our district’s scheduled last day of school, which is June 3rd.

Lexington County School District Three continues to work through the logistics of this mandatory shutdown. In addition to monitoring email, the district’s social media pages, and other school communication methods, we encourage Lexington Three students, staff, parents and guardians to visit the district’s website ( and navigate to the page we have dedicated to the Coronavirus situation. That page can be found by clicking on the “COVID-19 Shutdown Information” button at the top, right side of the homepage. There you will find academic lesson plans, health resources from DHEC and the CDC, archived news releases and other pertinent information that is updated frequently.

Please note that our Academic Learning and Student Feeding Programs will continue to operate as they have for the past five weeks. In addition, district administrators recognize that students will need to drop-off materials and pick-up personal belongings that are still in our schools. A plan is being formulated and information pertaining to this process will be disseminated soon. District officials are also intently working on a plan for graduation that will properly and safely honor the class of 2020.  Stay tuned for information about this that will be forthcoming.

As we navigate these last few weeks, Lexington Three wants its students, staff, and families to know that we are here for each of them. We cannot overstate the fact that our number one concern is the health, safety and well-being of our entire Lexington Three family and the Batesburg-Leesville community. We love and miss every single one of our Panthers!
