Third Grade Students Participate in MCEC TreeMendUs Program

Third grade students at B-L Elementary School were each recently gifted a Carolina Crepe Myrtle seedling as part of the Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative TreeMendUs program.  Students took the seedlings home with them and, with their parent’s or guardian’s assistance, planted the trees so that they could learn about the importance of caring for the environment all while beautifying their own yard.

MCEC’s TreeMendUs initiative occurs every year during the month of September and is aimed at helping to replace some of the trees that must be cut when MCEC builds or maintains right-of-ways.  This year, approximately 2,000 seedlings were given out to third grade students across the Midlands community, including those at B-L Elementary School.

The TreeMendUs program is provided free-of-charge to schools within MCEC’s service area.
