A panel of three judges descended upon Lexington County School District Three on Thursday, September 19th to determine who will be named as the district’s Teacher of the Year for the 2019-2020 school year. The panel consisted of the following professionals: Toni Chewning, the Director of Association Activities for the Palmetto State Teachers Association; Dr. Ann Marie Taylor, Principal of Horse Creek Academy; and Troy Simpson, Vice-President of Member Services for Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative.
The panel visited each school’s Teacher of the Year for an observation period and one-on-one interview. The Teacher of the Year finalist with the highest total score in all of the categories will be named as the District Three Teacher of the Year on October 3rd at a special banquet to be held at Southern Occasions. Along with receiving a host of prizes and gifts donated by local businesses and organizations, the new District Three Teacher of the Year will go on to compete in the South Carolina State Teacher of the Year competition, which begins in January.
